National History Day- Butte County
Butte County students win National History Day competition at the county level and are headed for the state competition in Sacramento. Students from 4th through 12th grade came from all over the county to enter their National History Day projects at the first annual National History Day- Butte County (NHD-BC) event. This year the event was held at Durham High School and out of the many students, 15 students were chosen to go on to state competition. The winners come from Paradise, Oroville and Chico.
Below is the list of student winners and the title of their projects.

The National Contest for National History Day is a week-long event that includes groups from all 50 states, Washington D.C., Guam, American Samoa, Puerto Rico and international schools in China, Korea, South Asia and Central America.

From the NHD website: The theme is broad to encourage students to delve into history, whether it be a topic from the ancient world or the history of their own city.
