Mission Statement

The Council shall plan and coordinate child care and development services through a collaborative effort of individuals, public agencies and private organizations by the promotion of affordable, available, accessible, high quality services to meet the diverse needs of Butte County families.

The Council shall serve as an advisory body to the Board of Supervisors, the Superintendent of Schools and the Children and Families Commission in Butte County, developing policy proposals and recommending priorities on child care and child development services, assessing early child care and education needs and plans for specialized child care
systems through collaborative partnerships.

The early care and education of young children has been identified as critical to their future development.  The California Legislature has designated Local Child Care Planning Councils as the mandated groups responsible for needs assessment, service priority identification, and development of policies and activities to meet identified needs.

• Increase program and service capacity and access to serve children with special needs and other disabilities

Council Goals & Priorities

The annual Strategic Plan has been developed to address four primary focus areas:

1. Collaborative & Integrated Services
2. Community Investment
3. Organization & Governance of Council
4. Program Quality, Professional Development & Capacity Building

Direction of Current Efforts

• Research, maintain and disseminate information and education regarding all aspects of the Early Care and Education (ECE) field
• Increase knowledge and skill levels of early childhood professionals
• Increase services for children with special needs and disabilities
• Assist in the improvement of the transition from early childhood programs to Kindergarten, supporting school readiness and success
• Develop a team-driven community education campaign focused on building general awareness of how the local child care industry benefits the county economic infrastructure and our quality of life
