Butte County Local Child Care Planning Council

Mission Statement

The Council shall plan and coordinate child care and development services through a collaborative effort of individuals, public agencies and private organizations by the promotion of affordable, available, accessible, high quality services to meet the diverse needs of Butte County families.

The Council shall serve as an advisory body to the Board of Supervisors, the Superintendent of Schools and the Children and Families Commission in Butte County, developing policy proposals and recommending priorities on child care and child development services, assessing early child care and education needs and plans for specialized child care
systems through collaborative partnerships.

The early care and education of young children has been identified as critical to their future development.  The California Legislature has designated Local Child Care Planning Councils as the mandated groups responsible for needs assessment, service priority identification, and development of policies and activities to meet identified needs.

  • Involvement in community planning and coordination efforts
  • Professional development institutes and activities impacting program quality and child care capacity building
  • Service accessibility for children with special needs and other disabilities
