Essentials for School Success

…a comprehensive planning, facilitation, staff development, and coaching service for elementary and secondary schools

Butte County Office of Education provides direct assistance to elementary and secondary schools to improve student academic achievement. Working in collaboration with school and district educators, BCOE contracts to provide site and district specific services.  This includes services as a SAIT (School Assistance and Intervention Team) provider, technical assistance to Program Improvement Districts and Program Improvement Schools and assistance with the High Priority Schools Program. 

 

The Process:

  • facilitate the implementation of the SBE academic content standards in reading, writing and mathematics
  • support teachers as they align their curriculum, develop assessments, and initiate after school intervention programs
  • assist with the collection, analysis and display of standardized and classroom-based assessment data using Edusoft software
  • facilitate discussions in grade level or subject area teams to:
    • identify underlying causes for low student performance
    • target individual students for intervention
    • identify opportunities for teacher professional development

The Team:

Kathy Clements and Cheri Gamette support teachers in reading and writing, Mary Tribbey assists with data, Holly Ahmadi supports teachers with English language development (ELD), and Patty Garrison provides support for administrators and directs the BCOE Team

The BCOE Team members also include:

  • Nikol Baker, beginning teachers
  • Amy Christiansen and Julie Jarrett, after school programs
  • Paul Haas, use of technology

  • delivery of a personal approach so teachers feel supported
  • capacity building at your school to sustain teacher and student success
  • a shared vision for stakeholders
  • analysis of classroom-based and standardized  assessment data
  • standards-aligned curriculum development based on data analysis and best practices
  • quarterly assessments in mathematics, reading, writing and other subject areas.

Your role:

Provide a schedule of meeting times for our BCOE Team to work with your school administration and instructional staff, as needed, on-site and online.
