The Employee Recognition Program was born under the leadership and guidance of Don McNelis, former Superintendent of Butte County Office of Education (BCOE), in the fall of 2010. During a semi-annual management meeting Mr. McNelis requested managers identify three things they would change about the organization. The results of this survey spoke clearly; BCOE needed to do more to recognize the great work of its employees.
And so began the formation of a Employee Recognition Committee currently known as the STAR Team (Special Thanks Appreciation and Recognition Team). The team is made up of representatives from each of BCOE’s six divisions and SELPA. The team meets every other month to discuss and improve recognition efforts amongst BCOE’s 2500 employees.
Why We Recognize?
The Butte County Office of Education is committed to recognizing employees for their achievements made in support of division/department goals and objectives, high-quality service to children and families and their dedication to the education field. On-going recognition of employees contributes to a supportive work environment, increased morale and retention of committed and engaged employees.Share Your Ideas
