Bessie R. Hironimus - President

Bessie is a Trustee of Area 2 (Oroville). She has been on the Board of Education since 1985 and has a very extensive background in education. Bessie is married with two children and lives in Oroville.

Betty Vassar - Vice President

Betty is a Trustee of Area 2 (Oroville), and has been a member of the Board of Education since 1990. She is a graduate of UCLA and has a masters degree in Administration. She retired from teaching and educational administration after thirty years of service. Betty has two children and lives in Oroville.

Dr. Ladd Johnson

Dr. Johnson is one of three Trustees of Area 1 (Chico). Retired professor emeritus Dr. Ladd Johnson brings decades of experience in education to his role as a trustee of the Board of Education. A Chico resident, Johnson began his educational career in 1956, retiring in 1987 as a professor of geography at California State University, Chico.

Jeannine MacKay

Jeannine is the Trustee of Area 3 (Paradise).  She has been on the Board of Education since June, 2002.  Jeannine has been involved in education for a number of years.  She is married and has four children and two grandchildren.

Brenda J. McLaughlin

Brenda is the Trustee of Area 4 (Biggs, Durham and Gridley). She has been on the Board of Education since June,1981. Brenda is married and has one son Noah. Brenda served as President for CCBE for the 1988-89 school year

Dr. Robert W. Purvis

Robert is one of three Trustees of Area 1 (Chico), and has been a member of the Butte County Board of Education since 1996. He has been involved in education since 1961, and was Superintendent of the Chico Unified School District. He is married, has three children and eight grandchildren

Pat Matthews Spear

Pat is Trustee to Area 1 (Chico). Pat retired from Chico Unified School District after thirty years of service which included teaching K-8, reading specialist, elementary principal and Director of Elementary Education. She is the mother of four children who graduated from Chico schools and has been a Butte County resident since 1932.
