AB 430 Administrator Training Program

Administrator Training Program

Site administrators continue to face the challenges of implementing a standards-based, data-driven system.  Understanding the national, state, and local vision and mission of preparing all students to master world-class grade level content standards is a critical component of AB430 training.  The training will cover three integrated modules designed to support this practice:

  1. Leadership and Support of Student Instructional Programs
  2. Leadership and Management for Instructional Improvement
  3. Instructional Technology to Improve Pupil Performance

Core Contents

AB430 requires 80 hours of core training and 80 hours of follow-up practicum over two years.  In addition to a deep exploration of newly adopted instructional materials, the core training modules will build skills and capacity necessary to:

  1. Establish and communicate state and district visions and goals for student focused instructional improvement.
  2. Create awareness and familiarity with state standards for all instructional team members and core subjects.

  3. Guide the full implementation of approved instructional program texts and materials.

  4. Direct and support proven staff training and professional development activities for uniform instruction and material use.

  5. Manage data and assessment for the purpose of guiding teacher decisions regarding student interventions and school site instructional practices.

  6. Fully utilize technology and fiscal and human resources for the purpose of student academic success.

Description

Training:
The initial 80-hour core training takes place over several days during one year.  An additional 80-hour practicum must be completed within two years.

It is California Department of Education policy that all AB430 participants must maintain their own practicum portfolios for possible review or audit for three years after they have been completed and signed off.

AB 430 Online Survey

Important: All Administrators who have completed their 160 hours in the AB430 Program are required to complete the AB430 Online Survey in order for their district to receive the final apportionment of AB 430 funds from the State.
