Migrant Education is a federally funded program designed to provide supplementary educational and support services to eligible migrant students. Currently, Region 2 has a cumulative
enrollment of approximately 28,348 students (ages 3-21) in 22 Northern California Counties. The migrant population consists of numerous ethnic and language groups (Spanish, Punjabi, Hmong, Mien, Laos,
Vietnamese, and English).
Region 2 is administered though the Butte County Office of Education. The Region is divided into four Areas. Area 1 is based in Santa Rosa and serves the counties of Del Norte, Humboldt, Marin, Mendocino, Napa, and Sonoma. Area 2 is based in Woodland and serves the counties of El Dorado, Sacramento, Solano, and Yolo. Area 3 is based in Yuba City and serves the counties of Lake, Colusa, Placer, Sutter, and Yuba. Area 4 is based in Chico and serves the counties of Butte, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Shasta, Siskiyou, and Tehama.
