What is ROP?
In operation since 1974, the Butte County Regional Occupational Program (ROP) is a career technical education program of the Butte County Office of Education.  In cooperation with local school districts and the business community, ROP prepares people for work by providing youth and adults with marketable skills, work ethics and job training needed to build and keep a career.  ROP has been accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges since 1988 and received Candidate Status with the Council on Occupational Education in 2012.

Mission Statement
The ROP Mission is to deliver high quality career education and employment training that provides high school student and adults the skills, knowledge and experience that lead to career success.

ROP Vision
ROP-leading career education with excellence.

Why should I take a ROP class?
Experience is the best teacher. ROP classes are taught by credentialed instructors who have trained and worked in the industry they are teaching. In addition most ROP classes provide real-world experiences by placing students in internships.  ROP can also be very helpful in the exploration of your college major.  People who complete ROP courses obtain skills and experience demanded by employers, and those who are university/college bound are able to examine areas of interest before making long term commitments. University/college applicants may receive priority consideration when transcripts show evidence of involvement in a related career program, such as ROP, especially in many popular or highly impacted fields of study.  Students are also prepared to seek advanced training and realize the value of continuing education.  Articulation with Butte, Shasta and Yuba Colleges offers advanced placement and/or credit for completion of some ROP courses.

Placement
ROP students receive practical job training that gets results. ROP partners with over 400 local businesses for on-the-job training (both paid and unpaid). Many Butte County residents have new or better-paying jobs because they have utilized ROP's services.
