Medical Assistant

This course provides students with the necessary entry-level skills required for employment in doctor's offices and clinics. Medical Assistants help physicians by doing tasks to assist in the treatment and examination of patients. They provide for the efficient operation of a doctor's office. After completing the medical assisting core curriculum providing information and skills common to all medical assistants, students may choose to specialize in administrative (front office) or clinical (back office) segments of the program.

Special Considerations:

  • Must be 18 years of age prior to completion of course

You Can Earn: A Certificate of Proficiency, high school credits and Butte College units

How to Enroll for Medical Assistant:

  • High School Students: see your counselor
  • Adults: Call the ROP office at (530) 879-7457.

Fees:

  • There is no fee for high school students.
  • There is a $50 registration fee for adults plus approximately $488 for the cost of books, supplies, and uniform fees. The cost of the Hepatitis vaccine is approximately $200 and is strongly recommended as some Community Classroom sites may require it.

Location: Chico ROP Center

Duration:  This is a Spring Semester class.  Class meets Monday through Friday.
