Pharmacy Technician

This class equips students with the basic skills and understanding of the profession in preparation for the state certification exam and entry-level employment.  The curriculum provides 180 hours of theory which includes: knowledge of practice settings, standards and ethics, laws and regulations.  Knowledge and ability to calculate common dosages, employ metric and apothecary systems.  Knowledge and understanding of the identification of drugs, drug dosages, routes, forms and storage requirements.  Knowledge of and ability to perform record keeping, techniques relating to manufacturing, packaging and labeling of drug products.   In addition to theory, 180 hours of clinical internship is required.

Prerequisites

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • General Education 10th Grade Proficiency Levels in Math, Reading and Written Language
  • Negative TB Test Clearance
  • Ability to pass the Background Check as required by the State of California

Adults pay a $50 registration fee and book/supply/uniform/other course-related expenses.

Location: Chico ROP Center

Duration:

This Class is offered once a year the fall semester. Class meets Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 12 p.m.
