Building Construction

This class prepares high school students for entry-level employment in building construction jobs including: carpenter helper, laborer, plasterer helper, painter, cement-mason helper, drywall applicator, floor-layer helper, plumber helper and roofer.  Classroom, shop and job-site experiences provide students with practical application of the theory by doing actual construction jobs.  Units on framing, roof layout, drywall, door and window hanging with some electrical, plumbing and blueprint reading are included.  Career awareness, job seeking/retention skills and leadership will also be emphasized.

You Can Earn: A Certificate of Proficiency, high school credits.

How to Enroll for Building Construction:

  • High School Students:  You need to be at least 16 years old and see your counselor or call ROP at 879-7457.

Fees: There is no cost for high school students.

Location: Paradise High School

Duration: This class meets at Paradise High School two hours daily for two semesters and begins in the fall.
