Web Design

This class is designed to provide the necessary skills and training for an entry-level position in the field of Web Design. The class focuses on web page planning, design, layout and construction (effective and ineffective) and setup and maintenance of a web site. HTML, DHTML, JavaScript and various web page and image creation tools are also covered. While the class is taught in a Microsoft environment, all the skills are transferable to Apple computers.

Areas of Study: World Wide Web and hypertext markup terminology Browsers, email clients, FTP clients, compression utilities, newsreaders and search utilities Web page design principles Design considerations: audience, browser version and cross platform issues Content creation tools for graphical elements (PhotoShop and ImageReady) HTML tools Troubleshooting methods Web page design using WYSIWYG editors (FrontPage and Dreamweaver) FLASH content creation

You Can Earn: A Certificate of Proficiency and high school credits.

How to Enroll for Web Design:

• High School Students:  You need to be at least 16 years old and see your counselor or call ROP at 879-7457.

Fees: There is no cost for high school students.

Location: Biggs High School

Duration: This two-semester class meets one hour daily Monday through Friday and begins in the fall.
