Computer Aided Design / Building Construction Design

This class is designed to provide students with entry level career skills in architectural design using CAD.  Instruction includes commands, files, editing, orthographic projection, dimensioning, sectioning, auxiliaries, pictorial, basic 3D wire frames and architectural drawings. The types of plan development covered include residential, floor, foundation, elevations, framing, section and engineering. Students are placed in internships that provide real-world training and skill.  This class prepares students for entry into college or university related programs such as Engineering or Architecture.

Prerequisites:
Chico High School:
Completion of Architectural or Engineering Design 1 & 2 or equivalent or instructor permission.
Paradise High School: No Prerequisites

You Can Earn: A Certificate of Proficiency and high school and college credits at Butte College.

How to Enroll for Computer Aided Design:

  • High School Students:  You need to be at least 16 years old and see your counselor or call ROP at 879-7457.

Fees: There is no cost for high school students.

Location: Chico High School and Paradise High School

Duration: This two-semester class meets at Chico High School two hours daily and Paradise High School one hour daily Monday through Friday and begins in the fall.
