Chico Unified School District - Conference Room
1163 East Seventh St., Chico CAStudents with AS/HFA present a number of unique challenges to educators and parents that differ from other students with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Often these students are academically at or above grade level, yet have social, behavioral, and learning challenges that make it very difficult for them to be educated in lesser restrictive placements. This training will give you strategies to cope with the social, behavioral, and organizational challenges that come with these challenging diagnoses. Emotional health and co-morbid mental illness issues will be addressed. Participants will learn:
* The educational and medical profile of a student with AS/HFA;
* Social, behavioral, and learning differences;
* Model programs and other strategies to accommodate these differences.
