Executive Functioning:
Helping Students Learn How to Learn
How students “execute” or carry out tasks is crucial for school success.  However, the complex cognitive skills required for effective task completion are often overlooked and misunderstood.  This training will present an overview of executive functioning and provide intervention ideas that address the influence of executive functioning on school success. In this workshop we will:
  •   Define executive functions, as they relate to the classroom
  • *  Examine executive functioning from a developmental perspective
  • *  Introduce methods for identifying executive functioning deficits in students
  • *  Discuss classroom environments that promote effective executive functioning
  • *  Review strategies to assist students with executive functioning deficits

    Workshop Presenters:
Diann Grimm, Education/Speech & Language Specialist
    Jennifer Simmons, School Psychologist
    Diagnostic Center Northern California
