Learning Support Region 2
System of Support for expanded learning
System of Support for expanded learning
The regional system of support for California is called the System of Support for Expanded Learning (S.S.E.L.). The S.S.E.L. consists of California Department of Education (C.D.E.) staff, designated County Leads/Staff and contracted Technical Assistance (T.A.) Providers. Additionally, as part of the regional teams, the sixteen county offices of education (C.O.E.) are funded to build the capacity of expanded learning programs (E.X.L.P.) through peer network systems and other activities in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (S.T.E.A.M) to promote quality programming.
what is expanded learning
what is expanded learning
California's Expanded Learning programs are an integral part of young people's education, engaging them in year-round learning opportunities that prepare them for college, career, and life.
Expanded Learning refers to before and after school, summer, and intersession learning experiences that develop the academic, social-emotional, and physical needs and interests of students. Expanded Learning opportunities should be hands-on, engaging, student-centered, evidence-based, results-driven, involve community partners, and complement learning activities in the regular school day/year.
