This program is designed to support health and wellness through guided immersions in natural environments to promote the well-being of both people and the land. Inspired by Shinrin-yoku, the Japanese practice of "Forest Bathing," is has been proven to enhance health, wellness, and happiness.
Proven effects include: blood pressure reduction, improvement of autonomic and immune functions, alleviating depression, and improving mental health.
Guides are trained by the Association for Nature and Forest Therapy.
Training funded by the North Valley Community Foundation and Butte Strong Fund.

Good mental health enables people to realize their potential, cope with the normal stresses of life, work productively, and have happy relationships with others.

Check out the U.S. National Park Service for other options on getting outside and experiencing nature. They even have virtual options that can help you experience places you might not be able to physically get to.
