Butte County Education Leaders Make a Promise to Butte County Students

In a ceremony at Little Chico Creek School, education and business leaders in Butte County joined together to sign the Butte Promise.  We will work together to help Butte County students find and stay on the path to certifications or degrees, meaningful civic life and productive careers.


BUTTE COUNTY


PROMISE

 To meet this challenge, we commit to the following goals:

 

1.   Provide exceptional education from preschool to graduate school that prepares Butte County students for successful engagement in the regional and global economies;

2.  Increase the percentage of Butte County high school students who are prepared for and attend college directly from high school;

3.  Increase the percentage of Butte College students who earn associate’s degrees and/or career certificates;

4.  Increase the percentage of Butte College students who successfully transfer to California State University, Chico or another four-year institution;

5.  Increase the percentage of Butte County students who graduate from California State University, Chico or another four-year institution with a bachelor’s degree and/or advanced degree;

6.  Maximize the ability of our educational systems to meet employer needs;

7.  Increase civic engagement and community service;

8.  Close educational achievement gaps between ethnic groups and special populations.
