Floods, drought, wildfires, and severe weather are just a few of the hazards of concern to schools throughout Butte County.  While natural hazards such as these cannot be prevented, the BCOE LHMP Annex forms the foundation for long-term strategies to reduce the risk of disaster. Communities with a FEMA-approved LHMP are eligible to apply for both pre- and post-disaster mitigation grant funding.  BCOE’s Annex to the LHMP Update was finalized and submitted to Cal OES and FEMA in February of 2025.
